Blood is life—the liquid matter that transports and distributes oxygen and nutrients into the different parts and organs of the human body. It also collects waste and carbon dioxide for expulsion from the body. So, what is the blood of God?
Without oxygen in the brain, permanent brain damage begins after only four minutes without oxygen, and death can happen as soon as four to six minutes later. Blood is precious in God’s sight. It represents life and the intrinsic sacrifice that humankind makes as atonement for sin and disobedience. Jesus Christ shed His priceless blood to take away the sins of the world.

Does God Have Blood?
God Is Spirit
God is spirit, and those who worship Him must do so in spirit and truth. — John 4:24
No, our Father in heaven doesn’t have blood. God is spirit in order to be infinite. Also, if God were limited to a physical body, He could not be omnipresent if He were restricted to the physical body.
Jesus Is God Incarnate In The Flesh
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. — John 1:14
But Jesus, the Son of God, is of flesh, bones, and blood. He is God incarnate and the Messiah, sent by Father God to redeem us because of His overriding love for us.

Essential Sacrifice
The authority and power of the blood of Jesus Christ have been manifested since the beginning of time. The prophets foretold His incarnation to restore us from our broken nature.
The Fall of Mankind displeased our Creator, which drove our first parents out of the Garden and stripped them of their perfection and immortality. But God still loves us. Despite our estrangement, He sent His only begotten Son to reconcile us to Himself and to promise us eternal life in heaven.
But sacrifice, through the shedding of blood, was required by God as an atonement for our sins. Our forefathers—Adam, Eve, Abraham, Abel, Abraham, other prophets, and the Israelites[1]—learned to sacrifice the blood of animals as remuneration for our transgressions. In the tabernacle and in the temple, a multitude of unblemished sheep, oxen, and turtledoves were killed, and their blood was spilled.
In Genesis, God tested Abraham’s faith by asking him to sacrifice his beloved son, Isaac. But God restrained him after Abraham showed his utmost loyalty and obedience. The ultimate manifestation of sacrifice happened at Calvary when Jesus’s blood was shed to take away all the sins of humankind.
Protection
The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt. — Exodus 12:13
When the Lord sent a final plague and judgment to “smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt” (Exodus 12:12), God instructed the Israelites to take the blood of a lamb and paint it on their doorposts. The blood freed them from the passing angel of death.
In the New Testament, the shedding of the blood of Jesus cleanses us from our trampled human nature and the futile ways inherited from our forefathers.
Authority Over Evil
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony. — Revelation 12:11
By His own blood and death on the cross, Jesus Christ vanquished all the forces of evil. He broke humanity’s yoke to sin and servitude to Satan. Through His name, we possess the inherent power and authority to drive away evil in our lives.
Healing

God’s Wrath Is Removed
But God demonstrates His own love toward us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. We will be saved from wrath through Him, having now been justified by His blood. — Romans 5:8–9
God’s blood has removed us from the fundamental wrath of God. We are no longer separated from His love and fellowship because of our fallen nature, but restored to Him in pious fellowship. The NT refers to redemption as the atoning blood of Christ for all members and believers of the church of God.
Reconciliation
For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! — Romans 5:10
Reconciliation means the restoration of a harmonious and holy fellowship with our Creator. In the new covenant, the apostle Paul often mentions to the church of God the significance of the atonement of Christ to regain God’s unswerving love. When a sinner expresses forgiveness, the Lord’s trust is restored.
Redemption
We have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, and the riches of His grace in Him. — Ephesians 1:7
Redemption is God’s ultimate goal for all of His most beloved creations. We are made in His likeness and bear the imprint of His holiness and magnificence. Despite the fall of humankind, His plan of redemption has been at work since the beginning of time. Paul emphasized that the Lord sent His beloved Son to deliver us from sin, not with perishable things but with Christ’s death at Calvary.
Redemption is the buying back of our freedom from the bonds of sin and Satan. Christ’s blood was the great redemption that paid for our sins. God redeemed us through the atoning and precious blood of Jesus Christ.
From the moment we receive Jesus as Lord and Savior, we enjoy the blessings of being Christians and children of God. Moreover, our eternal salvation is secured in heaven. Jesus’ blood meant salvation for God’s entire flock.

In the New Covenant, Paul was deeply concerned about the spiritual well-being of all the members of the church. He mentioned the savage wolves that would negatively influence the flock in the churches. He reminds the faithful in Ephesus and the church elsewhere to guard themselves and invoke the blood of Christ in repelling the intrusion of evil within their ranks.

God’s love for all of humanity is abounding and never-ending. He sent His one and only begotten son to remove all of our sins and wash us clean from the yoke of sin and evil on earth. The blood of Jesus ushers liberation into a fallen world.
Jesus Christ, the Messiah, and the Lamb of God dwelt among us in flesh and blood to convey the message of reconciliation and redemption. No longer are we required to sacrifice the blood of any living being; we only have to call on the holy name of Jesus to draw Him to us. By His stripes, we are healed, protected, and redeemed.
