The individuals who initially received Jesus’ remarks might have thought that being pure meant strictly abiding by the rules set down by the Jewish scholars or the Bible. But Christ focused more heavily on the pure hearts of his followers than on their ability to follow the rules and commandments. In his sermons, he warned against obeying the commandments just out of a superficial love for God.

How does being pure in heart help you see God? We can only develop a pure heart towards others and God by His cleansing gift. Jesus’ blood cleanses our souls and gives us the chance to perceive God, now and forever in His home. Since we’ve witnessed God through Christ, those with clean hearts eagerly await the thrill of seeing Him in person.

What Does It Mean To Be Pure In Heart?

Devotedly loving God displays our heart’s sincerity and involves eliminating all other idols from our lives. We must remain steadfast in our belief in the Lord and must not waver in our commitment to Him. We shouldn’t live with a “Jesus and” attitude.

By severing all connections with the world’s sinful ways and giving our complete allegiance to Him, we can achieve purity of heart. We recognize that all we have is a special gift from the Almighty, our God, and we cherish Him with all of our heart, mind, might, and soul.

We sincerely commit our lives to the Lord and use our energy, skills, and resources to His glory. When we do this, our adherence to His teachings increases as we show love to others since He first showed it to us according to 1 John 4:19. But basically, if we don’t know God’s word, we can’t develop in purity.

James 1:22–24 teaches us that knowing God is a prerequisite for loving Him, and the only way to know Him is to hear His Word and obey what it commands. That’s why it’s crucial to carefully read through and obey the Holy Scripture. Starting at the bottom of the cross, placing our faith in Jesus Christ, and adhering to all He instructs is where we must go if we desire to live with a pure heart.

Who Are The Pure In Heart?

All sinners who place their trust in the Lord alone are given a pure heart by virtue of Jesus’ existence, crucifixion, and resurrection. People with pure hearts[1] are those whom God has called and redeemed—those who “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind,” in simple terms, with their entire being (Matthew 22:37).

As it said in Colossians 3:12–13, the children of God are clean and treasured, all with pure hearts “and compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you.” But a double-minded man who doubts God and doesn’t follow His teachings is not one of them.

How Does Being Pure In Heart Help You See God?

Jesus spoke that the pure shall see God. That is, one must be pure to see God. The impure aren’t allowed into his presence; they’re not in awe of his holiness, and they’re not consoled by his grace.

Hebrews 12:14 and Jesus’ message are both stressing, “Strive for… In other phrases, blessed are the pure for they shall meet God. Without purity, no one will be able to see the Lord. To perceive the King of glory, there must be genuine purity and holiness.”

With mankind, it is unattainable, but with our Almighty God, everything is possible, so God provides a purity that is for us and within us so that we can achieve purity. That’s the remainder of Christ’s response, which is exactly what He said to His students in Matthew 19:26.

And through his grace, we must ask for that favor by pleading with God to “create in me a clean heart, O God,” as David did (Psalm 51:10). Christ “who offered himself for us is where we must turn” to purify for himself a people (Titus 2:14). God is the only one who cleanses the heart, and faith is the means by which he does this. Therefore, put your absolute faith in the Lord (Proverbs 3:5). Do this one thing; then you will see Him.

What Does It Mean To See God?

Admission To His Presence

First of all, to see God is to enter into his presence. Pharaoh raged at Moses after the disaster of darkness struck Egypt. Moses responded in Exodus 10:28–29, “Go away from me; pay attention to yourself; never see my face again; for in the day you see my face you shall die. I won’t ever again see your face. As you say!” Being permitted entry into God’s presence is the first consequence of seeing him.

To Find Solace In His Love

Secondly, to see God is to experience the consolation of his grace. The psalmists beg God over and over again to show his face to them. Verse 7–9 of Psalm 27 by David, for instance, read, “Dear Lord, hear my loud cries. Please respond to me gently…Don’t hide your face from me.” This implies that seeing God’s face is regarded as a pleasant and consoling experience for us. If He appears to us, we are blessed by God’s goodness. We are disappointed if he turns away.

To Be Amazed By His Magnificence

Lastly, to perceive God is to be in awe of his splendor, to feel his holiness firsthand. Job replied, “I had heard of thee by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees thee; therefore I loathe myself, and repent in dust and ashes,” after God confronted him in the whirlwind.

“The great purpose of purity is to see God.” The Bible or God’s providential work serves as a major conduit for all of our spiritual sight in this world. Pictures and rays of God’s glory are what we “see.” His voice resonates and reverberates in our ears. Hence, experiencing God also entails being overwhelmed by a personal encounter with his glory.

Why Is Purity Important To God?

Even the Old Testament believers were aware of this, “Who will ascend the LORD’s mountain? And who will occupy his holy stead? He who doesn’t lift his soul to that which is false, does not vow falsely, and has clean two hands and a pure heart” (Psalm 24:3–4).

The Jewish people believed that the person’s heart was the source of all motivations, ideas, and choices. Our inner selves, which are concealed from the outside world, ought to be fully pure, transparent, and bright since God can see the heart.

A clean heart is upright and devoid of any underlying selfish intentions. It avoids anything dishonorable in its quest to serve with simplicity and humility. It pursues moral purity and avoids yearning for worldly riches. It seeks comfort in God and the understanding that he takes care of all of our needs.

Jesus teaches us to love God through others, and King James Version says that love should also be described in the following approach, “Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart…” (1 Peter 1:22).

How Can We Become Pure In Heart?

The life within us, which is only God Himself, is where we get the brightness that can let us see where we are. Spending time in the Lord’s presence through prayer and His Word is crucial for this reason. We can pray something along these lines to beg the Lord to purify our hearts:

“Dear Jesus, I appreciate You entering my life. I am grateful to the Lord, who is my very light. I aspire to have a pure heart. Show me whether I have any goals or ambitions besides Yours. Lord, help me to be pure in heart for Your will and You so that You might grow within me.”

We shouldn’t become disheartened when the Lord draws our attention to anything that’s on our minds. Just expressing our desire for His holy place and renewal of the steadfast spirit within us to remain in His rightful place in our hearts in prayer will satisfy Him.

The Lord will keep on speaking to us as we reply to His loving connection with Him. through the help of the Holy Spirit, we work with Him and open the door for Him to purify our hearts for Him. He’ll then have a chance to grow within us.

Summary

According to the Lord Jesus Christ, those with pure hearts are lucky because they will see God. “We will see God if we seek Him with a pure heart. The reward for having a pure heart is seeing God. This blessing applies to both the present and the future” (Matthew 5:8).

The benefit of seeing the Lord is a powerful motivation for us to engage and work with Him. We must be open to giving Him the space and opportunity that He needs to grow our hearts in purity.
