Each Friday after Corpus Christi Sunday, many Christians, especially Roman Catholics, commemorate the solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Faithfulness to the Sacred Heart of Jesus has been one of the most popular and enduring tenets of the Catholic faith since at least the Middle Ages, even before the feast day was instituted in 1856.

The Sacred Heart Prayer is the most revered prayer[1] in Catholicism. You can pray to the Sacred Heart of Jesus every day by reciting one of the many novenas or other powerful prayers that have been written about him.

Powerful Sacred Heart Of Jesus Prayers

The prayers of the Sacred Heart of Jesus are a gift from the divine heart of Jesus Christ to His faithful followers. Therefore, these prayers are among the mightiest ever uttered below the clouds.

Prayer No. 1

O Most Holy Heart of Christ, fountain of all blessings, I love Thee, I adore Thee, and filled with lively sorrow for my transgressions, I offer Thee my poor heart.

Make me patient, pure, and wholly obedient to Thy will.

Please, Good Jesus, help me to find my life’s purpose in serving You.

In the midst of danger, protect me;

In my afflictions, comfort me; give me health of body, and in my temporal needs, support me;

Your blessing on everything I do, and the gift of a holy death.

All my worries are contained in Thy Heart.

With humble trust, let me pray to Thee in every situation: “Help me, heart of Jesus.” Amen.

Prayer No. 2

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, alive and life-giving fountain of everlasting life, unfathomable treasury of the Divinity, glowing furnace of passion Thou art my shelter and my sanctuary. Oh, sweet and magnificent Redeemer, may the flame that ever burns in Thy Heart devour mine own.

The graces that emanate from Thy love, pour down on my soul. Allow my desires to meld with Thine so completely that we always act in harmony with one another. That my every thought and deed be governed by Thy will. Amen.

Prayer No. 3

My trust is in Your most Sacred Heart, Lord Jesus Christ. Just look at me and let the power of Your love move you. The decision is up to Your Sacred Heart. I have faith in You. Have faith in me. I completely surrender to Your grace. Please do not let me down, Lord Jesus.

I put my faith in the Sacred Heart of Jesus. I have faith in Your love for me, Sacred Heart of Jesus. Jesus’ Sacred Heart, have your way. Jesus’ Sacred Heart, I have beseeched You for many things, but this one is most important to me. Put it into Your wide-open heart.

If the Eternal Father ever sees it, He will see Your Precious Blood all over it. My petition will now be addressed to You, the same Jesus Christ. I put all my trust in Your Sacred Heart, merciful Jesus. Please don’t let me down. Amen.

Prayer No. 4

Most sweet Jesus Christ, I wish to spend this hour with you, to comfort you, and to provide some recompense from the love in my wretched heart for the pain you endured in Gethsemane. You were abandoned during that one lonely hour, and the very beings you made to adore you showed no affection.

You bore the burden of our sins and mine, and I will try to make up for the pain I gave you then with the love I have for you today. Jesus, I want my love for you to grow stronger so that it might provide you comfort even if it’s only a little.

Jesus, Sacred Heart, supported by an angel in your suffering, please ease our pain. Amen.

Prayer No. 5

Loving Heart of Jesus,

My health is deteriorating, and I’m in pain.

I give thanks for the gift of life that is my body, which is a holy dwelling place for the Holy Spirit.

I voluntarily submit to whatever pain you have me in right now.

I put my faith in your ability to restore health and I accept your grace of peace, relief from suffering, and final determination.

Lord, please give me the strength to face my fears and the protection of your loving embrace.

Grant me the fortitude to accept with joy the health that I am in with a spirit of holy resignation and a heart full of hope for the future. Amen.

Prayer No. 6

We reaffirm our devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Hold us near to your Mother’s pure heart and your own loving heart always. We pray that our love for one another grows deeper every day and that we are able to forgive one another’s shortcomings just as freely as you have forgiven us. Help us recognize you in the people we meet in the world. Having regular Communion and attending Mass will help us keep our love for you strong.

For all of today’s benefits, we are grateful to you, Dear Jesus, King, and Friend of our Family. Keep us safe tonight, please. Save us all and take us to heaven! Amen.

Thy kingdom come, Most Sacred Heart of Jesus! Pray for our family, O Immaculate Heart of Mary. St. Joseph, patron saint of the Sacred Heart, please pray for us. Please intercede for us, holy martyrs and mighty angels. Amen.

Prayer No. 7

O Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Jesus’ tender mother and ours, we pray to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, for whom it is inconceivable not to have sympathy on the suffering, to have mercy on us miserable sinners and to grant us the grace which we ask of you.

Hail Mary, Mother of God, Holy Queen, pray for us; Saint Joseph, Jesus’ foster father, hear our prayer. Amen.

Jesus is said to have promised several blessings to His followers who demonstrate devotion to His sacred heart.

  • He will bestow upon them all the graces required for their station in life.
  • He will bring harmony to their households.
  • He will comfort them in their distress.
  • He shall be their refuge in both life and mortality.
  • He will generously bless all of their endeavors.
  • In His heart, sinners will discover the source and limitless ocean of mercy.
  • The lukewarm will become fervent.
  • The minds of the ardent will swiftly attain great perfection.
  • He will bless the locations in which the image of His Sacred Heart is displayed and venerated.
  • I will grant clergymen the ability to penetrate even the hardest of souls.
  • Those who spread this devotion will have their names engraved indelibly on my heart.
  • In the abundance of His Heart’s mercy, He promised that His all-powerful love will grant all those who receive Communion on the First Fridays for nine consecutive months the grace of final repentance: they will not die in His wrath nor without receiving the sacraments, and His Heart will be their safe haven in their final hour.

How To Know God’s Sacred Heart

If people everywhere could only realize how much God loves them, so many issues would disappear. After all, it is love that conceals all wrongdoing. Learning that the eternal God loves us teaches us that we do not need to compare ourselves to anyone else or seek validation from their approval.

Devotion to the Sacred Heart helps us strike a good balance between self-awareness and self-humbling acceptance of our faults. Both ignoring our misdeeds and pretending they don’t exist are extremes that lead to difficulties, as does the other extreme of focusing solely on our unworthiness, which is a sort of vanity and disguised pride. When we take the time to pray, we are able to feel God’s presence and the depth of his true love for us.

Conclusion

Despite the assurances made, it is still prudent to keep one’s own needs at the forefront of one’s mind when praying to the Sacred Heart. Do you seek material success? Is there a time in your life when you need more strength? Remember that Jesus died so that we wouldn’t have to. His pain will ultimately save us.

You can become closer to Jesus by praying the sacred heart of Jesus’ prayer. Learn from Jesus’ selfless compassion as you rest your weary head on his heart.
