The Bible is filled with examples and stories of people who trusted God and saw amazing results. However, the most important thing we can do is look to Jesus as our example. He exemplified complete trust in the Father, and as believers, we should follow His lead.

A core part of being a Christian is to trust God[1]. This includes placing our trust in His will, promise, mercy, and love rather than relying on our own strength and knowledge. Moreover, to trust Jesus means to believe that His promises will be kept, no matter how dire the present circumstances may seem. It is through trusting Him that we will find rest, comfort, hope, healing, and peace.

What Does It Mean To Trust In Jesus?

Trusting in Jesus means we rely on His promises and depend on Him and the Holy Spirit for our salvation, protection, and guidance. It is an act of faith by which the believer submits to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

This trust is based upon a firm belief in the teachings of the Lord Jesus and a desire to follow and fulfill the commandments of God. As believers, we must continually strive to obey His will and live according to His Word.

The Bible clarifies that when we trust in Jesus Christ even without our physical eyes, we trust the plan of our Heavenly Father for our lives. We can truly count on Him, as He is faithful and just (Hebrews 10:23). Trusting in Jesus also means believing that whenever we pray, God will listen and answer the desires of our souls. Some may not be according to His will, but what’s certain is that He remains faithful to His followers.

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” The death and resurrection of the Lord provide us with a way to salvation, and when we put our faith in Him, He assures us of His promise of eternal life. We can also trust Jesus to protect and guide us along life’s journey.

Three Aspects We Can Learn From The Bible When We Trust In Jesus

We are called to place our trust in Jesus, as this is one of the central teachings of God’s Word. As we trust in Him, there are three aspects we can see and learn from the Bible that will help us experience glorious joy and peace and find purpose in life. Furthermore, it allows us to nurture our individual faith more.

1. God’s Love And Mercy

The moment we trust in Jesus as the Good Shepherd, we will learn to appreciate God’s unending love and mercy. The Bible emphasizes that God is our Father and that He cares deeply for us, no matter how many mistakes we make or how far short of His standards we fall.

With the wisdom and guidance of the Holy Spirit, we are also able to accept God’s offer of love and compassion. This will give us the strength to forgive ourselves as well as those who have wronged us.

As long as we keep on trusting Jesus, our faith in Him will allow us to experience the grace and mercy of God even when things get difficult or unpredictable; there is an eternal presence of divine love and light surrounding and guiding us on our journey.

2. Contentment Through Righteousness

When we trust in Jesus, we can learn the importance of living a life that is pleasing to God. We must accept His teachings and principles as our guide for living righteously according to the standards and words of God.

It is important to understand that true rest, joy, and peace come from living a life of righteousness and holiness and not from material possessions or accomplishments. In Hebrews 13:5, we are told to be content with the things we are blessed with. By living this truth, we are saving ourselves from going after temporary things that do not bring lasting satisfaction or happiness. Only then, if we understand this, will our faith in Jesus grow.

3. Spiritual Freedom

When we put our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, He grants us freedom from spiritual oppression and fear. Through His death on the cross, God brought us to salvation, thereby liberating us from sin. As believers, we can now live with the freedom and peace that were given to us by believing in Jesus.

4 Bible Verses On Trusting Jesus

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

— Proverbs 3:5

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

— Isaiah 40:31

Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God, everything is possible.”

— Matthew 19:26

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

— Isaiah 41:10

Why Does Trust In Jesus Matter?

Trusting Jesus matters because He is the only way we can have a relationship with God. John 14:6 says, “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.’” This means that unless we have faith in Jesus Christ and in His Word, we cannot be saved from our sins and we cannot come to God.

Having trust in Jesus also gives us hope for eternal life after death and the ability to find rest in His arms forever. If we believe in the sacrifice Christ made on the cross, we must also believe in the promise of eternal life. It is only through Jesus that we can find rest and hope.

Furthermore, having faith in Christ as our Savior is how we humans are able to have a deeper experience of the love of God for us. When God gave up His only Son, the promise of salvation was fulfilled, and this is only because God loves us very deeply.

We no longer need to be anxious or afraid of whatever’s going to happen in our lives because, as long as we trust Him, His love will always save and rescue us from trouble, grief, and the burden of sin.

How To Trust In Jesus

Trusting in Jesus starts with the belief that He is who He says He is—the Son of God who was sent to redeem us from our sins. To truly trust in Him requires a willingness to surrender our hearts and lives to Him. Trusting in Jesus means allowing Him to be Lord over all areas of our lives and believing that His way is best.

Acknowledging the truths found in scripture is key to trusting Jesus. We must believe what the Bible says about Him and accept that He came down to earth as a human being and died on the cross for our sins so we could live an abundant life. Knowing this truth can help the rest of us build a strong foundation of faith in Jesus.

Developing a relationship with Jesus through prayer is another important step in trusting Him. Talking to God and allowing Him into our lives helps deepen our connection with and trust in Him.

Reading the Bible also provides us with insights into His character; its pages are filled with many words and stories that can help us understand who He is and how He works. As we spend time reflecting on these scriptures, our faith in Jesus grows stronger.

We must remember that when we place our trust in Jesus, He will never let us down or abandon us (Hebrews 13:5). Even when life proves difficult and we receive bad news and our beliefs become shaky or troubled, we can take solace and find rest in knowing that God’s love for us is unchanging and unfailing.
